Boat Mover/Hauler Job Description

This job includes launching and retrieving boats up and from dry rack storage to the water and back. Moving boats on trailers with a tractor around the yard and general yard organizing. Placing and removing boats from rack storage buildings with forklifts. Maintaining a neat and orderly yard and storage facility, taking care of boats in the dealership’s possession, and responding to any requests to inspect, move and/or deliver boats to include general maintenance and repair on boats and trailers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with launching and retrieving boats from dock
  • Move boats into and out of the shop for service work
  • Maintain cleanliness of grounds and facility
  • Maintain accurate fuel records
  • Follows all safety precautions and procedures at all times
  • Receives storage boats from service department after winterized for storage and places for long term storage
  • Organize all boats neatly with consciousness to yard space 
  • Map location of all storage boats
  • Report any damage or problems to service manager in writing
  • Reports all low inventory or shortages of materials as needed 
  • Ensures that no damage is done to boat during handling
  • Covers all boats (shrink wrap storage boats as necessary)
  • Performs a final check of operation and cleanliness of boat before delivery 
  • Post-storage prep for all storage boats
  • Reports to service manager when service needs are identified
  • Ensures all equipment is in good working condition at all times
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Experience and expertise operating forklifts and tractors
  • Ability to multitask and handle high stress situations
  • Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Experience launching and loading boats a plus
  • Previous marina experience a plus
Compensation
  • An hourly pay rate of $18 - $22.

Schedule
  • Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Overtime is available during Spring Launch and Fall Haul Out Season
  • Weekend availability during Spring Launch and Fall Haul Out Season
  • Location Headquarters - 2200 US 9 Lake George NY 12845
  • Some Driving to Other Locations Weekly
