Service Writer
Service Writer Job Description
A Service writer is often our first point of contact for service customers via telephone and in person. In this role, you will prepare written estimates for service work and parts and act as a liaison between customers, manufacturer representatives, and service technicians.
Duties and Responsibilities

Daily

Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments

Must have outgoing, friendly personality to include superior communication and customer service skills

Initiate work orders and maintain control until closed and invoiced
-
Must be customer service, yet goal-oriented, maintaining a sales-focused approach in an effort to increase service revenue
-
Handles Repair Order charges
-
Helps maintains the service library with up-to-date information
-
Maintains a clean and safe work area
-
Handles service department filing and records
-
Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours or other information from work orders
-
Completes other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

Weekly

Participate in planning meetings with location Supervisor/Foreman and Service Director to ensure all work is scheduled and prepared for

Close weekly non billable internal work orders. Ensure tech notes are loaded and that OpCodes describe work that was completed

Ongoing
-
Stay up to date on maintenance requirements to make proper recommendations to customers to ensure their boats are properly maintained
-
Sell maintenance to customers who have opted out and encourage proper upkeep of boats
-
Communicate with the sales department to spread awareness of potential boat sale opportunities.

Qualifications
-
A high school diploma or equivalent
-
Professional appearance and positive attitude to all customers
-
Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing
-
Organizational and computer skills are required for the position

Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven
-
Customer service or sales-related background preferable
-
Have a valid state driver’s license
-
Ability to operate all equipment sold by the dealership
Compensation
-
An hourly pay rate from $22 - $26.
