Dock Assistant Job Description Seasonal position

A Dock Assistant is responsible for representing the marina in a professional and courteous manner, serving as the face of the business to many customers. Provide prompt and the highest level of customer service at all times while maintaining a clean and welcoming dock.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows all safety precautions and procedures at all times

  • Greets all customers in a prompt and courteous fashion

  • Fuels customer boats and assists in pump outs

  • Sells miscellaneous supplies (oil, soda, water, bait, etc.) and accurately processes all transactions

  • Maintain the gas dock and surrounding area to be orderly, safe, and clean

  • Maintain a professional image consistent with our commitment to customer service at all times

  • Be protective of the environment, avoiding gas and oil spills, as well as litter

  • Assist with the pick up and delivery of Boats from customers’ docks in a safe and courteous manner

  • Use company provided iPads to punch on and off jobs as required

  • Complete required checklists as needed

  • Assist in the launching and hauling out of boats from the launch ramp

  • Assist in operating machinery as assigned

  • Safely operate trucks, tractors, and forklifts as assigned

  • Oversee dockhands in a professional manner

  • Ensure customer boats are properly tied up and docks are cleared of boats at open and close of day

  • Properly document fuel pump information as required

  • Man the front desk at the retail store as assigned

  • Assist with boat detailing unwrapping, or other yard/prepper related tasks as needed

  • Professionally and kindly mentor young dock hands into polite and kind assistants to the customers

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 
  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • Professional appearance

  • Ability to follow all company policies and procedures

  • Be able to work independently, self-motivated, and process driven

  • Have a valid state driver’s license & boating license

Compensation

  • An hourly pay rate of $18 - $20 per hour

  • Mileage reimbursement when driving between locations as needed

Schedule

  • Flexible depending on the season. Overtime needed in Spring through Fall. We will work around Saturdays as best we can in recognition of Sabbath. Winter hours will be 40 per week, Monday - Friday 

  • Marina hours are 8 AM - 7 PM 4th of July weekend through Labor Day weekend

  • Primary location to report to - 291 Cleverdale Road, Queensbury NY 12820

  • Headquarters at 2200 US 9 Lake George NY 12845

  • Some driving between locations will be required at times
