St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event at Proctors Theatre on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Proctors Theatre has donated the space so 100% of funds raised will benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research. Why are so many people willing to shave their heads? Worldwide, more than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, including children throughout the greater Capital Region. Sadly, some will lose the greatest fight of their short lives, despite treatment. A mere 4 percent of all federal cancer research funding is dedicated to pediatric cancer research. St. Baldrick’s Foundation grants fund research to hospitals like Albany Medical Center and others across the United Sates and play a critical in battling this devastating disease. Your participation could make a big difference...will you join us? Shavees, volunteers on day of event, corporate sponsorhips of teams and donations are needed to meet our goal of $25,000.
