Carved Stool with David Salvetti. #942-0923. 2 days. September 23&24
In this class, students will learn the skills involved in making a cherry stool, which range from learning how to shape the seat to fitting the legs and crosspieces. This project is a blend of precision woodworking and working by eye, but by breaking each operation down into simple steps and using jigs, the work becomes easy. Fastening the legs in place with wedges of a contrasting wood is a hallmark of good craftsmanship and results in a strong joint. This class is an introduction to simple carving and shaping, as well as skills that can be used in many types of chair making. You will take home a finished product to be proud of.
