SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Teakwood Builders, Inc. has been named a Gold winner of the 2023 Annual Kitchen & Bath Design Awards in the Best Specialty Project category. Titled “Sumptuous Speakeasy,” this 384-square-foot marvel was a collaborative effort by designer Eva Lindsell Andersen of Teakwood Builders, Inc., Balzer + Tuck Architecture, and lighting designer Nelson Reeds.

The award-winning project is located at a special horse farm in Saratoga Springs, and features an ambitiously designed basement with a billiards parlor, whiskey room, spa, golf simulator, and a New Orleans-styled bar room. Solutions such as raising the floor and dropping the ceiling, retractable steel-framed tempered glass windows, custom-designed geometric coffer-like ceiling ornamentation, and specially fabricated steel doors bearing the horse farm's logo led to a space that radiates sophistication.

Sponsored by Kitchen & Bath Design News magazine, the Kitchen & Bath Design Awards is a national contest recognizing outstanding achievement in 11 categories. Judged on various criteria including aesthetic appeal, innovation, and functionality, Teakwood’s “Sumptuous Speakeasy” project stood out as a symbol of luxury, innovative problem-solving, and masterful craftsmanship.
