TOWN OF BALLSTON – 7/23/19 - A newly released brochure “Shop*Taste*Tour” with a map locating over forty Southern Saratoga farms and artisan business locations is now available. It is designed to help consumers become aware of working farms with retail aspects, farm stands, farm stores, homemade gourmet food purveyors, artisan workshops and country event venues located within the footprint of the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District including the Towns of Ballston, Charlton, and Clifton Park.

The brochure includes historic farms, orchards, a winery, bakeries, a weaver, a stained glass artist, a woodworker, a candle maker, a garden seed company, a jam maker, a soap and lotion maker, livestock farms selling grass raised beef, chickens, goats and unique Mangalista pigs, dairy farms, truck farms, equestrian enterprises, a hop farm, several farm stores, CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) venues, and places to purchase duck and chicken eggs,  herbs, bedding plants, perennials and more.

An enumerated map and brief descriptions of the farms and related artisan sites will help guide residents and visitors to the often unique and scenic rural locations. The free brochure is available at the Town of Ballston Town Hall (323 Charlton Rd., Ballston Spa), the Town of Ballston Community Library (2 Lawmar Lane, Burnt Hills), Shank & Falvey Insurance (805 Route 50, Burnt Hills), Mail n More (690 Route 50, Burnt Hills), and the Route 50 Saturday Green Market (802 Route 50, Burnt Hills,) among other locations.  A digitalized version will be available soon at www.bhblbpa.com
Funding has been provided by the Town of Ballston through the Farmland Preservation and Protection Committee (FPPC) and the Visioning Committee of the Burnt Hills-Ballston Business and Professional Association (BPA).

Creative graphic services were provided by Kelly Smith (RedHedz Design) and web site coordination and digitalization was provided by JC Sweet & Co.
