Sammy Hagar brings The Best of All Worlds tour to Saratoga
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- "The Red Rocker" Sammy Hagar delivered a night of '80s hits to fans at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Monday as part of The Best of All Worlds tour.
Backed by a band of top-notch talent featuring bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Joe Satriani, Hagar and friends rocked the Spa City venue with a setlist that included Van Halen favorites like "Panama," "Right Now" and "Jump" as well as Hagar's solo tunes - notably "I Can't Drive 55," which was inspired by a traffic stop that happened somewhere near the Saratoga region.
The tour schedule allowed Hagar to enjoy a Sunday off in Saratoga Springs, where he enjoyed a visit to Saratoga Race Course and had the honor of exclaiming "Riders Up" ahead of a race.
Timing also worked in Hagar's favor giving his band the opportunity to invite Pat Monahan of Train, Tuesday's headlining act at SPAC, on stage for a couple of songs, as well as REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin at the end of the concert.
This show was an unforgettable experience for audience members, who were also treated to a high-energy opening set by Canadian rock band Loverboy. With the stars aligned for a spectacular night in Saratoga, the tour certainly lived up to its name.
The LiveNation concert lineup for the Broadview stage at SPAC continues this week with Train and REO Speedwagon on Tuesday, and Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago on Wednesday. The full summer concert calendar is available at spac.org.
