MVP Health Care Joins The Adirondack Trust Company to Sponsor Saratoga County Chamber’s Healthy Saratoga Movement

The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce today announced that MVP Health Care has joined The Adirondack Trust Company to support and sponsor the Chamber’s Healthy Saratoga movement. Started in 2014, the mission and purpose of the Chamber’s Healthy Saratoga initiative is to ensure Saratoga County is one of the healthiest places to live, work and play.

“MVP Health Care is committed to having a positive impact on the health and wellness of everyone we serve across our entire service area,” said Augusta Martin, senior leader of business development and portfolio strategy at MVP Health Care. “The Saratoga County Chamber and its members have made health and wellness a signature focus of their plan of work and have demonstrated real results. A key to their success has been bringing together businesses, nonprofits, the public sector and individuals with expertise in health and wellness and we’re proud to join this Healthy Saratoga movement.”

This February, with support from MVP Health Care and The Adirondack Trust Company, the Chamber hosted its fifth annual Health and Wellness Week. During this week, local health and wellness organizations across Saratoga County opened their doors to offer the general public free opportunities to take classes or to attend special workshops. The idea behind Health and Wellness Week is that this is a great opportunity for people to try something new on their path to wellness, whether that be meditation, barre, weight loss training, spinning, interval training, and more.

In June, the Chamber in collaboration with MVP Health Care and The Adirondack Trust Company will organize and host a series of events as part of a celebration of Employee Wellness Month. This effort annually features an employee wellness walk in Clifton Park and Halfmoon, a special workshop on workplace wellness strategies, and a Networking Mixer and Health and Wellness Expo. During the expo, Chamber members in the health and wellness sector have the ability to promote their products and services for free.

“The Adirondack Trust Company has enjoyed being a supporter and sponsor of the Healthy Saratoga movement for the past three years,” said Steve von Schenk, President and CEO of The Adirondack Trust Company. “Our employees have participated in all of the Chamber’s Healthy Saratoga events. Beyond the benefits to our employees, we believe ensuring that Saratoga County is a healthy place to live and work is good for our economy and our community.”

In 2014, Saratoga County was the 5th healthiest county in all of New York State, according to a study by the University of Wisconsin’s Public Health Institute with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Saratoga County improved to 3rd healthiest in 2015 and was rated number 1 in 2016 and 2017; then slipping to number 2 in 2018.

“Our Healthy Saratoga movement is made possible because of the support we’re receiving from organizations like MVP Health Care and The Adirondack Trust Company,” said Todd Shimkus, president of the Saratoga County Chamber. “This support allows us to inform and invite local people to use the services and products offered by our members in the health and wellness field. We’re empowered to spotlight the actions being taken by employers and employees to improve their own health and their workplace wellness to inspire others to follow their lead.”
