Business Intelligence Intern

Salary Range: $15.00/hr.

Job Summary:

The Business Intelligence (BI) Intern hones their technical skills in a real-world professional setting at DeCrescente Distributing Company. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the world of business intelligence and data analytics. The BI Intern will assist with gathering, analyzing, and reporting on data that drives business decisions and strategies.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist in collecting and processing large datasets from various sources.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that contribute to business strategies.
  • Support the development of data models and dashboards to visualize key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Create and maintain regular reports for management and end users.
  • Present data findings in a clear and concise manner using charts, graphs, and other visual aids.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data in reports and presentations.
  • Develop proficiency in SQL for querying databases and extracting relevant data.
  • Utilize BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar software to create interactive dashboards and reports.
Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with BI tools and SQL.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Work Shift Requirements:
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
  • Must speak to supervisor to notify him/her any time prior to the beginning of work shift when calling in sick.  Voice mail or e-mail messages are not acceptable replacements.
  • Use and maintenance of company-issued laptop and cell phone.
Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures
  • For all on-the-job injuries or accidents, must notify Safety Officer, supervisor, and Human Resources immediately (no later than 1 hour)
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time 
  • Possess visual and physical dexterity as required
