Trail Opening: Ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided walk of the new Siege Trail in Victory Saturday, October 17th, Saratoga PLAN will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the new Saratoga Siege Trail. The trail has been constructed along the area of Fish Creek where Americans laid siege against the British, eventually forcing the surrender of General Burgoyne and convincing the French to join the American effort. The afternoon will begin at the Schuyler House with brief words from project supporters and leaders, followed by a ribbon cutting and .5 mile trail walk. Support for the Siege Trail came from many partners including: Saratoga PLAN, the Saratoga National Historic Park, the Town of Saratoga, RBC Foundation, the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust, the Bender Family Foundation, Siena College, Brookfield Power, the American Battlefield Protection Program, and Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. Saratoga PLAN is a nonprofit land trust that works to preserve the rural character, natural habitats and scenic beauty of Saratoga County so that these irreplaceable assets are accessible to all and survive for future generations. We help landowners conserve their farmland, woodlands and natural habitats. We connect people to nature through an extensive trail network and 12 public nature preserves - for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and kayaking. Saratoga PLAN helps communities create plans that balance growth with conservation to sustain the Saratoga Region as a great place to live, work, visit and farm.
