Small Business Owners Council
The Chamber’s Small Business Owners Council meets every month, on the first Tuesday, from 4 to 5 p.m. The meetings are informal facilitated conversations about issues of importance to small business owners. With Tuesday, November 5th being an Election Day, the focus of this meeting will be on what small business owners should do and should not do when dealing with elected officials and government agencies from the local to the state level.
The reality is that all small business owners face challenges and red tape when securing permits and licenses. Small business owners are confronted with new rules and regulations that can be complicated and expensive. What can you do to advocate for your small business? What should you do to seek changes to the laws which threaten your ability to succeed? That’s what we’ll talk about.
We will be joined by Tom Lewis who will share his ideas and expertise on this important topic. Tom worked for Stewart’s Shops interacting with officials and agencies at all levels of government. He served and chaired the City’s and the County’s Planning Board. He worked for Senator Kathy Marchione. He’s organized fundraisers and actively campaigned for candidates at all levels of government. He’s seen what works and what doesn’t from all sides. We hope you’ll join us!
