Shoemaking with the Cordwainer Shop with Molly Grant. #1268-0514. 5 days.
Learn shoemaking with original Cordwainer Shop 1920s antique tin patterns. Students will walk away from this class in their new handmade leather shoes knowing how to place patterns, construct uppers and soles and put shoes together using a unique method of hand-lacing. Custom leather soles are made for each student to his or her exact foot measurements. Students will choose up to 3 colors of leather for the Candace style oxford, designed in the 1920s by Edward Mathews, Cordwainer Shop founder. Finishing tasks include lasting, burnishing, buffing, insole making and other details that make a signature Cordwainer shoe.
