Saratoga Springs International Film Festival
Amazing films, exciting panels and hi-tech exhibitors are making their way to Saratoga Springs. The film festival, which debuts this year, will screen local, national and international short films and features from students, amateurs and professionals. To ensure the quality of films accepted, each film is viewed, critiqued and scored at least twice by a film committee consisting of regional filmmakers, actors, cinematographers, and writers with extensive professional experience.
The festival will take place Saturday, September 17th. Films will be shown at state-ofthe art screening rooms in Bow Tie Cinemas, followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers, while panels and the exhibitor’s hall will be held at the Saratoga City Center. Skidmore College will also host screenings of local/regional shorts and feature films at the Davis Auditorium, with Q&A and talk-backs with cast and crew. These screenings will happen as part of our partnership with the John B.Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS).
Enticing panels will take the center stage at the Saratoga City Center. Ranging from discussions with female filmmakers about how they have been able to overcome the many roadblocks to women in the industry, to cinematography techniques and microbudget filmmaking & distribution plans, the panels will present a strong array of topics concerning the film industry today. A conversation with Steven Beer about a film's life post-festival and a hands-on screenwriter's workshop are also in the program.
In the Exhibitor's Hall, artists and crafters will share the space with innovative industry technology presenters and local businesses to create a one-of-a-kind, fun, and family-friendly ambience for festival goers of all types and likes.
