Public Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Natural Resource Inventory
To help the city create a Natural Resource Inventory (NRI), the OSAC is soliciting your participation and opinions about the future of open space and natural resources in Saratoga Springs. Specifically, at the January 31st workshop, the public will engage in activities that will help the committee shape two different components of the NRI:
?h Creating a Vision Map of the most valued places and spaces in the city of Saratoga Springs, and
?h Refining and improving the committee’s preliminary list of priority issues relating to future planning for the protection of our natural resources and open spaces.
Members of the Open Space Advisory Committee as well as City staff will be in attendance to present materials and facilitate the discussion.
This event is free and open to the public. Come for part or all of the evening’s activities. Residents and businesses as well as individuals from conservation commissions, watershed organizations, land trusts, open space, bike, and trail organizations are encouraged to attend.
The Natural Resource Inventory (NRI) will catalogue the ecological characteristics of Saratoga Springs. It will provide a comprehensive, scientifically-informed understanding of the natural environment for the city, land use boards, residents, and businesses that will serve as the foundation for making informed decisions about conservation and development. The NRI is being guided by the Open Space Advisory Committee with the assistance of consultants LeBella Associates. Funding for this project has been provided by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Climate Smart Community Program.
