Needle Felted Teacup Fairy Garden with Leslie Scarborough #1239-1014. 1/2 day.
Needle-felting is the process of using a barbed needle to interlock wool fibers to form a dense material. Students will make a Teacup Fairy Garden. Basic needle-felting techniques will be discussed and taught. Fine surface work will be emphasized. This course is intermediate because much of the work is done in-hand without the use of a felting pad. Intermediate level, prior experience helpful.
NOTE: This class will take place at 18 Curran Street in Glens Falls, NY - the building located next to the Shirt Factory Gallery. Students are required to bring a vintage teacup or any similarly small vessel (e.g. sugar bowl), 1-2 ounces of core wool, less than 1 ounce of various other colors (greens for grass/shrubs/trees, earth tones for houses, brighter colors for flowers), natural elements such as very small pine cones, acorn caps, and other such things that can be incorporated into the wool elements, #38 & #40 gauge needle-felting needles, tacky glue, and small sharp scissors. A needle-felting pad is helpful but not necessary. *All supplies can be found at Common Thread in Saratoga Springs or online at New England Felting company or Livingfelt.com. Hobby Lobby carries very small amounts of colored wool that can be used for accents.
