Medical Missions for Children hosts annual Saratoga Gala to support children in need
Woburn, MA- Medical Missions for Children (MMFC) is a 501(3) (c) charity based just outside of Boston, Massachusetts which has been providing health and hope to children around the globe for over 24 years. MMFC will be hosting its annual Saratoga Gala on August 2nd 2014 at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs.
This year’s Gala is Mad Men themed and they encourage everyone to come dressed as your favorite Mad Men character. There will be food, fun, and exciting silent and live auctions. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby Dick and DJ Susie Q. Guests will also have opportunities throughout the night to “buy a smile” or to sponsor running an operating room for a day. Additionally, as part of its Miles for Smiles campaign, MMFC will be raffling off a free 2 year lease of a 2014 Mercedes SL550 (MSRP $114k).
While MMFC is based in Boston, volunteers from all over the country have connected with the mission and committed to helping children in the countries that MMFC serves. In particular, MMFC has strong ties to Saratoga- the hometown of founder Dr. Denny Snyder. This event is a chance for the Saratoga Springs community to show its support for the work done by MMFC. With the support of sponsors and donors, MMFC is able to send between 15 and 20 missions a year to locations from South America to Africa and Asia.
About MMFC
At its inception, MMFC went to one country and helped a handful of children. Today, 24 years later, MMFC now conducts close to 20 missions a year and has operated on over 22,000 children. Last year alone, MMFC launched 20 surgical and dental missions. The overall need is staggering with more than 170,000 children born with cleft lip and palate deformities each year and a backlog of over one million children and adults awaiting this surgery. MMFC provides its surgeries free of charge to these children, who would otherwise never have access to this care. This surgery resolves health complications and speech impediments and most important, restores dignity to a child and his family. Children who receive this surgery are given the opportunity to stay in school and become productive members of the community.
Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at www.mmfc.org Any questions or information on how you can help may be directed to Frank ODonnell at fodonnell@mmfc.org
