In this class we will make a sloyd style knife blade with a wooden handle shaped to fit comfortably in your hand. Next, a birch bark sheath and a razor edge. The last day will be spent whittling spoons with your knife. Steel selection, basic metallurgy, heat treating and sharpening will be covered as well as local wood selection for spoons and safe carving grips. This class is best suited for people who have some experience in at least one of these subject areas or for beginners who are up for a challenge.
