Food and Wine Weekend Basketry - Twined-Bottom Tray with Barbara Boughton. #1278-0408. 1 day.
Twining is the original weaving technique, where two strands are twisted as they pass over and under the warp element. Twining is one of the most useful techniques to know in any style of weaving. In weaving this basket, students will begin with a series of spokes which are twined into a base. Additional spokes are incorporated as the base grows, creating a beautiful and durable bottom. When the base reaches 15" in diameter, students will weave up the sides, using a plain weave (over/under) pattern. Hand-dyed reed, and a variety of sizes will be available for each student to design and create a unique piece. The basket is finished with leather bushel-style basket handles. You may want to come for the weekend and make the Wine basket for Two Bottles on Saturday, April 7th and then make this beautiful basket on Sunday, April 8th. You will go home with gorgeous food and wine baskets to use at your next gathering or picnic!
