South Street in Glens Falls is the setting for his highly anticipated play. Since the late 18th century, South Street has been the home of bars, gambling, restaurants and entertainment of all kinds. It was a stop on the vaudeville circuit and a site for the storage of Canadian whiskey on its way to New York City during Prohibition. Today, South Street continues to evolve, with development efforts that some say threaten its very character. Based on interviews with residents, business owners, community leaders and others with intimate knowledge of the area, the play takes a fresh look at the past, present and future of the historic street. Join the playwright and director at this first-ever public reading, where you’ll be able to offer your views and help shape a play that is truly based on our community’s shared history and future.
