Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic featuring Sue Oringel & Georgia Popoff
This monthly event, hosted by Carol Graser, takes place on the first Wednesday of every month and includes an open mic reading as well as featured poets. Sign up for the open mic starts at 7:00 and readings start at 7:30. Novembers features are Sue Oringel & Georgia Popoff Georgia A. Popoff, of Syracuse, NY, is an educator, arts-in-education specialist, Comstock Review senior editor, Downtown Writers Center Workshops Coordinator and faculty member with two poetry collections and coauthor of a book for teachers on poetry in K-12 classrooms. Her third collection of poetry, Psalter: The Agnostic’s Book of Common Curiosities, is forthcoming from Tiger Bark Press in June 2015. http://gappoet.blogspot.com/ Susan Oringel is a poet and writer, a teacher of creative writing, and a psychologist in private practice in the NY Capital District. A graduate of the Warren Wilson M.F.A. program, she has published in various journals, such as Blueline, The Maryland Poetry Review, and the National Council of Teachers of EnglishEnglish Journal. She also served as co-translator for a collection of Latin American poetry: Messengers of Rain, published by Groundwoods Press,in 2002 and 2011. Fellowships and awards include Individual Artist award from the Albany-Schenectady League of Arts, a fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center, and an SOS award sponsored by NYSCA. She teaches creative writing at Hudson Valley Community College and previously taught at Empire State College and Schenectady Community College. She has two manuscripts looking for homes—a chapbook, My Coney Island, and a full-length collection, Carnevale.
