Blacksmithing - Practical and Ornamental Joinery with Bob Compton. #1248-0727. 5 days.
This is a class for smiths who have a good grasp of the basics and want to expand their repertoire to include various methods of traditional joinery. Students will be working on projects of their own design, either some sort of grillwork or a small table or bench. The idea is that all students will design a piece incorporating a specific technique or techniques they want to learn while at the same time being exposed to techniques that other students want to explore. Techniques that will be covered include slitting and drifting, mortise and tenon, wedged tenons, clasp joints, collaring, riveting and anything else that comes up.
NOTE: Hard shoes and long pants are required for student's safety.
