The National Museum of Racing Preschool

The National Museum of Racing’s Preschool Program is back for the 2012 school year. Please join the Preschool Program at the National Museum of Racing, 191 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs; on Friday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Each class consists of story time, learning a letter and number and a craft project. An adult must accompany children. Admission is $30.00 per child; for the six Fridays. (Museum members receive a 15% discount.) Space is limited and advance reservations are required; call 584-0400, ext. 118 . Please call in advance, so we may plan accordingly. Thank you. PLEASE NOTE: In the event of bad weather, if the Saratoga Schools are closed or delayed, the preschool will be closed. Caring for Animals Friday, December 30 Our pets need the proper care to be healthy, just like us. We will learn what basic care a horse or pony needs. Please bring in a picture of your pet to share. Happy New Year! Friday, January 6 The Thoroughbred’s official birthday is January 1st. When is your birthday? We will learn how many days are in a year, and what is a yearling? Celebrate Our Differences Friday, January 13 In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we look at what makes us different and special. We will talk about famous African American jockeys and trainers in racing. Our book will be Perfect Timing. Dream Catchers Friday, January 20 Learn about Native Americans and why their horses were so important to them. Make your own dream catcher. Pegasus, The Flying Horse Friday, January 27 The ancient Greeks were famous for their horsemanship. We will hear the myth of Pegasus, and make galaxies. Galloping into Your Hearts Friday, February 3 Let’s have some fun. Make your own valentines on watercolor, burst a bubble paper. Our story will be Henry in Love.
