A look at the rich source material available to study our city's history
The Friends of the Saratoga Springs Public Library will host author and historian Field Horne discussing Saratoga's Written History: its past, its sources, and its future
on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm in the Dutcher Room of the library. The event is free, open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.
The presentation will feature a look at the rich source material available to study our city's history, the approaches taken by writers since the Civil War, and a new book project edited by Horne that will attempt to set the record straight. For more about the book project see:

Horne has been a Saratogian for 35 years, coming here from his native Westchester County. A graduate of Williams College and of the Cooperstown Graduate Program, he worked in history museums for many years and is now concentrating on the writing of history. He is the author of The Greene County Catskills: A History (1994) and The Saratoga Reader (2004), and was the community history editor of The Encyclopedia of New York State (2005). He was a founding member of the New York Academy of History, and chaired the Conference on New York State History from 2001 to 2012.
