Learn to take better pictures of landscapes
This two-hour workshop will be geared toward the beginner/intermediate landscape photographer trying to create images with impact. The discussion will center around the numerous tactics and techniques used to capture evocative images of the natural world that require little to no color manipulation. Equipment choices, compositional approaches, and shoot planning will all be discussed. Nate will bring the equipment for a basic landscape shoot and will have images to project as visual accompaniments to teaching points. Discussion will be directed by questions from participants.
Topics will include:
- How to plan a shoot: time of day, weather, topography, how to extend the shooting window, etc.
- Techniques for shooting effectively in varying weather conditions and different seasons.
- How to find and capture vivid color in the landscape.
- Basic technical approaches to different subjects and conditions.
- Essential compositional styles and approaches.
- Equipment choices: cameras, lenses, tripods, accessories.
