"The Holy Land: Baltimore, the Wire and Faith in the writing of Rafael Alvarez"

Rafael Alvarez, screenwriter and author, will discuss the dominant role his hometown plays in his work and how two decades of covering the city for The Baltimore Sun prepared him to write for HBO's The Wire, and the ways in which a little bit of faith goes a long way in a city where every block has a church on one corner and a saloon on the other.
