Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic Featuring David Eye & Richard Hoffman
This monthly event, hosted by Carol Graser, takes place on the first Wednesday of every month and includes an open mic reading as well as featured poets. Sign up for the open mic starts at 7:00 and readings start at 7:30. July’s feature poets are Richard Hoffman and David Eye. David Eye is the author of Seed, released in 2017 from The Word Works, chosen by award-winning poet Eduardo C. Corral. He is the recipient of a 2014 Tennessee Williams Scholarship in Poetry from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and he was a finalist in the (unrelated) 2015-2016 Tennessee Williams Poetry Contest, selected by Yusef Komunyakaa. David earned an MFA in Creative Writing in 2008 from Syracuse University, and he has since taught at Manhattan College, Syracuse University, St. John’s University, and Cazenovia College. He grew up in rural Virginia and lives (for now) in the Catskill Mountains. Richard Hoffman is author of the Half the House: a Memoir, and the poetry collections, Without Paradise, Gold Star Road, winner of the 2006 Barrow Street Press Poetry Prize and the 2008 Sheila Motton Award from the New England Poetry Club, and Emblem. A fiction writer as well, his Interference & Other Stories was published in 2009. His new memoir, Love & Fury, is just out from Beacon Press. He is Senior Writer in Residence at Emerson College.
