October 17, 2017 – Lake George, NY – Beckley’s Marina has recently signed on as a dealer for Torqeedo, the global market leader in the growing segment of electric marine propulsion. The trend towards electromobility is driven by several factors. Most importantly, the trend means cleaner, quieter, more environmentally friendly motors. The electric drive systems cause no water pollution – they do not discharge exhaust into the water, there is no contamination as a result of refueling, and there is no oil necessary for their operation. A Torqeedo Travel can cover 10 nautical miles with a battery consumption equivalent to just 40 grams of fuel!
Consumer acceptance of sustainable products has continued to rise and the demand for products like Torqeedo has risen with it.
‘We’re incredibly excited about the opportunity to introduce the Torqeedo line to Saratoga Lake, Lake George, and the rest of the region,’ said Matt O’Hara, Torqeedo dealer and owner of the Freedom Boat Club Lake George. ‘With increased awareness about the need to be stewards of the environment for future generations, the demand for electric propulsion has grown. We all want to enjoy clean, peaceful bodies of water and the continued adoption of Torqeedo and other electric motors will help deliver this experience.’
Torqeedo currently offers 32 electric boat drives ranging from 1 to 80 HP, though initially Beckley’s will be focused on the Ultralight 403, the smallest drive system from Torqeedo designed for canoes, kayaks, SUPs and small sailboats. Its high efficiency lithium batteries, optimized propeller system, and reliable performance enable a range of over 25 miles, suitable for many of the Adirondack and Capital Region lakes. In addition, Torqeedo offers a large number of functional accessories such as solar charging technology and a smartphone app.
