Head Brewer

Dancing Grain Farm Brewery operates a 3.5 bbl brewery and taproom in the upper Hudson Valley, lower Adirondack region and is looking for an experienced brewery professional to manage all aspects of brewing. The ideal candidate has a broad range of skills and demonstrated ability to be self-directed, has excellent attention to detail, and can work in a less traditional brewing facility – this brewery is located on a 300+ acre farm! The candidate would have interest in bringing beer to life from the ground up – Dancing Grain grows over 90% of the malt used in production in addition to all herbs, edible flowers, and forages for other ingredients produced by the farm. This is a full-time salaried position.


  1. Brew beer and perform cellaring tasks
  2. Clean and sanitize all equipment and work areas and maintain logs of water usage and quality
  3. Commit to sustainable operations that can positively impact the farmland and farm products grown onsite
  4. Maintain brewery records for federal/state compliance
  5. Participate in raw material selection and evaluation, some of our beers have a 12 month + lead time due to growing seasons
  6. Develop recipes for DGFB according to brand standards and philosophy
  7. Ensure adequate inventory of raw goods, brewery supplies, and beer
  8. Perform scheduled maintenance on all brewery equipment
  9. Conduct sensory evaluation to maintain consistent beer quality
  10. Develop beer marketing strategies with the DGFB team
  11. Participate in off-site events and festivals as a brand representative

  1. 1-3 years professional brewing experience
  2. Fundamental knowledge of plumbing, mechanics, and process flow
  3. Broad knowledge of beer styles and industry trends
  4. Ability to communicate well with staff, guests, and others
  5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  6. Valid driver’s license
  7. Ability to work individually and remain on task
  8. Enjoys working in a rural setting

Dancing Grain Farm Brewery operates a new Fronhofer designed and manufactured thermal fluid 2-vessel, 3.5 bbl brewhouse complete with 4 7-bbl fermenters and 4 3.5-bbl fermenters, and one each of the same size brite tank.  This type of brewhouse is almost identical to a steam system, without the maintenance of a steam boiler.  All base malts are grown on site and shipped to our malt vendors to be processed and returned for use in our beers.  Housed together with our taproom in a renovated farm building with beautiful brews and views, Dancing Grain offers a laid-back experience with a sophisticated and varied beer list.
