Join us for a presentation on the ecology and worldwide folklore of the birch tree - Russian, Scandinavian and Native American. Barbara will bring examples of the uses of the birch tree from the bark to the branches, and will demonstrate the preparation of materials for weaving. She will bring examples of projects she has woven with Vladimir Yarish (a famous Russian Birch Bark weaver and instructor) as well as her own creations. Participants will also be given the opportunity for some hands-on experience weaving with birch bark.
NOTE: Students must be 12 years or older.
