New York Solar Energy Society, the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering and Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP have assembled an outstanding group of speakers to address questions about Solar Development in New York.
New York has recently received a major federal investment from the Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative, which will establish the U.S. Photovoltaic Manufacturing Consortium at the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. This initiative, which has drawn interest from over 100 companies and organizations, aims to reduce the cost of solar by 75% to $1 per watt by 2020. At the same time, solar deployment is accelerating around the state. Residential, commercial and utility-scale projects are in development from Long Island to Buffalo, and solar energy plays a major role in the recently released update to PlaNYC. It thus appears that the solar industry in New York is on the verge of a major breakout. But this raises a number of questions: How will New York’s technology centers lead the cutting-edge R&D and facilitate the conversion from lab to manufacturing? How will New York manage the import of renewable energy on the grid? And what are the barriers to additional deployment of utility-scale solar energy systems in the State? The New York Solar Energy Society, in partnership with the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering and Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, has assembled an outstanding group of speakers who will address these and other questions, and provide you with the latest on the game-changing advancements in the solar industry. The conference will be held at the historic Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, New York, during the Saratoga thoroughbred racing season. Join us for an enlightening and spirited discussion in the morning, and leave with plenty of time to enjoy the track in the afternoon.
