The Law Office of Andrew DeLuca, located on the second floor at 9 Maple Avenue in Saratoga Springs, is proud to host an Innovative Art Show, Slaying the Dragon, on Friday, September 30 from 6 to 8 PM in the law office’s conference room. This event is FREE and open to the public. Mr. DeLuca has partnered with The Prevention Council for the show, in which several well-known and up-and-coming local artists will display their work. As an attorney, Mr. DeLuca frequently handles the criminal justice aspects of heroin addiction, and has decided to use his passion for the arts to shed light on the problem. “We are in the midst of an epidemic and people are paying attention, but this is an issue that requires ongoing collaboration,” he explained. “Art is provocative; it facilitates new perspectives and deeper understanding. Such a complex social problem requires creative, even artistic solutions. An art exhibit seemed like an interesting way to bring a diverse group of people to the table for essential conversation.” Slaying the Dragon will feature works by sculptors Noah Savett and John Van Alstine and painters Susan B. Hale, Zack Lobdell, Tom Myott, Bryce Rose Takeyce Walker, Angel Cortes and Kendra Farstad. Refreshments will be served. The art on display will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds donated to The Prevention Council, a well-respected non-profit organization in Saratoga Springs that has deep roots in the community and strong relationships with schools, mental health agencies, and the judicial system. The Prevention Council works to give young people the skills to choose healthy behaviors, and to prevent bullying and promote internet safety. The organization also presents substance abuse education programs.
