Saratoga's Racing Legends
Join Veteran sports journalist, Mike Kane, for a presentation on one of Saratoga's racing legends–Frank Catrone. Frank grew up in Saratoga Springs where his father operated a fruit market for decades. In 1920, while selling fruit at Saratoga Race Course, the small-framed teenager was recruited into the racing business by Hall of Fame trainer Sam Hildreth. Catrone mucked stalls, became an exercise rider, and graduated to a career as a jockey. In the 1930's, Frank's career moved to training and reached the pinnacle when Lucky Debonair won the Kentucky Derby in 1965. The program is free, open to the public and will be held in the H. Dutcher Community Room at the library.
