Local filmmakers Nicole Coady of Ballston Spa, NY and Marty Hardin of Troy, NY are partnering to produce a retelling of the classic Brother's Grimm fairytale, Twelve Dancing Princesses. Up-and-coming filmmakers, Coady and Hardin are raising funds for their new film via Indiegogo, a popular crowdfunding source. The trailer and Indiegogo campaign launch will preview at a special event at Saratoga Film Forum on Saturday, October 17th. In addition to the exclusive preview of the film's trailer, the party will feature finger foods and a cash bar, and a one-time only screening of La Belle et La Bête, the brilliant French film adaptation (by Jean Cocteau) of the classic story, now known to many as Beauty and the Beast. Coady's film and La Belle et La Bête are quite different from the animated versions that our patrons may be familiar with, said Carol Maxwell, SFF president. This is a very old tale that explores classic themes: internal versus external beauty, and the redemptive power of love. We rarely show older movies, but this film is significant, and we are honored to screen La Belle et La Bête, especially in collaboration with these filmmakers. We are very excited about partnering with SFF, said Coady. SFF is the only independent movie theater in the region, and for the last two decades, they have been committed to showing an exceptional range of high quality films. They want to support the growing film industry in our region, by showcasing films from local filmmakers, and we are thrilled to be the first event of its? kind in the region. This is a great opportunity to work with a local venue to tell our story. The original Brothers Grimm Fairytale is powerful, and, as filmmakers, we are excited about bringing a new interpretation of this classic tale to the screen. Launching our campaign at Saratoga Film Forum also provides an opportunity to share why we want to tell this classic story again, in a new, and fresh, way, said Hardin. Saratoga Film Forum is collaborating with Coady and Hardin to create a very special evening. The film community in Saratoga is growing and we are excited to showcase the work of a local filmmaker, said Carol Maxwell. Our patrons love independent films. This event provides our community a chance to get to know rising filmmakers, and to dig deeper into the significance of this classic story. We are premiering our trailer at this event because we want our community to be a part of our filmmaking journey, by providing a glimpse into the filmmaking process said Coady. We are 100% invested in making this film a success, but we can't do it without the support of our fans and our community. Tickets are $10 and include admission to the Launch Party, an exclusive viewing of the Twelve Dancing Princesses trailer, plus La Belle et La Bette . Finger foods are available, as well as SFF Concessions and a cash bar for wine and beer. Doors open at 6:30. To reserve your tickets, visit: 12dancingprincessesfilm.com/events/
