With prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications becoming the new “party” drugs for teens, Saratoga County residents are encouraged to get rid of unused or expired medications at several drug drop locations on Saturday, April 28th. The following sites were established in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, which will collect unused drugs from thousands of sites across the country. In Saratoga Springs, the Saratoga Partnership for Prevention has partnered with the Saratoga Springs Police Department to provide a drop site at the Police Benevolent Range, 52 Weibel Avenue. In Clifton Park, the Shenendehowa Community Coalition has partnered with the NY State Police to provide a drop site at the NY State Police Public Safety building, 5 Municipal Plaza, off Route 146. In Mechanicville, the Mechanicville Community Coalition has partnered with the Mechanicville Police Department to provide a drop site in the CVS parking lot, located at 12 South Central Avenue. All drop sites will be open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The process will be completely anonymous with no questions asked. In most cases, residents don’t even need to get out of their cars. They can pull up to the collection box, drop their items in, and drive away.
