March 13 to April 12 Fully Online Course This course is for individuals who wish to work in the pet industry or pet lovers/owners seeking knowledge on how to respond in an emergency situation for pets. In this class, you will learn what you can do in the first 15 – 25 seconds on the scene to make a big difference for a pet in crisis. Learning to respond quickly and properly is critical and can save a pet’s life. Some of the material covered in this class includes: • Equipment and supplies for putting together your own Pet First Aid Kit • Understanding basic pet owner responsibilities • Rescue breathing • Restraint, muzzle, elevation, direct pressure points • Administering medicine and treating wounds • Bleeding, immobilization, shock management and transporting wounded animals • Assessing vital signs Participants will need to purchase at least one textbook separately (cats, dogs or both) depending on their interest and needs.
