Gallery Exhibit opens on July 3 for track related photography
Opening on July 3 is an exhibition by three photographers; Dona Ann McAdams, Carole Williams, and Sharon Castro.
Dona Ann McAdams visits the backstretch of the Saratoga racetrack and the people every summer. Dona Ann has been making photographs for over 30 years. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, and works to bring cameras and photography into small, underserved communities (including the backstretch workers of Saratoga racetrack).
Carole Williams and her husband, Tom, have been training horses for 29 years. Two years ago, Carole took a photography class taught by Dona Ann McAdams. Carole says “She [Dona] gave me a camera with an awesome zoom lens. The first time I looked through that viewfinder and zoomed in, I couldn't believe the pictures I could take… It's exhilaratingly intoxicating.”
Sharon Castro worked exercising race horses for over twenty-five years, and has now traded in her helmet for a camera. Sharon’s work has been published both locally and internationally, and has won several prestigious art competitions.
The reception for this exhibit will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at 5pm.
