Pilates for the Dressage Rider

The National Pilates for Dressage® clinic instructor, Janice Dulak, will begin with a lecture based on her book “Pilates for the Dressage Rider” which is an excellent introduction to the history and theories of Joseph Pilates and the foundation for Pilates for Dressage®. Janice will define the principles of body awareness and control essential for being an effective rider and will lead riders in a pilates mat workout that is specifically selected to find the musculature essential for riding. During their mounted sessions at DaCory Farms in Saratoga, the focus will include: correcting posture and seat position; learning to affect the horse with the body in halting, half halting; finding a more effective way to post and sit the trot; how to influence correct bend in a horse; and much more. More than exercise, fitness or conditioning, Janice Dulak’s Pilates for Dressage® will change the way participants ride for harmony and partnership like they have never experienced before. In order to participate in the mounted work, it is necessary (for participants’ safety) to sign-up for the full three-day workshop. There will be a maximum of 12 riders. Wednesday, May 2nd: 6:00-8:00pm Power Point Presentation at Reform Pilates Thursday, May 3rd: 8:30-10:30am Mat Class at Reform Pilates (break for lunch and travel) followed by mounted work at DaCory Farms in the afternoon in groups of 3 or 4 starting at 1:00pm.
