The Upstate New York/Adirondack chapter of Nashville Songwriters Association International
The Upstate New York/Adirondack chapter of Nashville Songwriters Association International presents a songwriter showcase featuring Nancy Walker, Kate McDonnell, Rosanne Raneri and Doug Irving. Doug Irving NSAI chapter president Doug Irving has eight albums, two musicals, and over forty independent releases to his name. His songs have been recorded by numerous artists, including Mirinda James, whose recording of "A Place in my Heart" has been heard world-wide and twice garnered Song of the Year from the Northeast Country Music Association. Nancy Walker has become a central figure in Saratoga's thriving music scene since moving here from Chicago a few years back. With her deep, rich voice and commanding stage presence, Nancy delights audiences with songs that have been described as " a little Joni Mitchell, a little Buffy Saint-Marie, a little Patsy Cline. All Nancy Walker." Veteran folksinger Kate McDonnell has won accolades from Tom Paxton, Bill Staines, Patti Larkin, and countless fans across North America and Europe. Her sometimes bittersweet, othertimes hilarious Americana-flavored songs have placed first in the country's most prestigious folksong contests (Plowshares, Mountain Stage, Mid-Atlantic and more). She is noted for her clear, tender soprano singing, her vulnerable but resilient lyrical outlook, and crisp, fingerpicked guitar playing. Reviewers have called Rosanne Raneri breathtaking, exciting, the best in New York's Capital Region, a star-in-waiting. Her joy and energy is electric, immediate and contagious. It's her uniquely rich, throaty voice that hushes an audience and holds their undivided attention. With a modern style all her own, you'll hear hints of jazz, pop and R&B in her melodies.
