Congregation Shaara Tfille, along with Jewish Federation of NENY, Ruthann Marcelle and Paul Gozemba are thrilled to be co-sponsoring HaMapah for SaratogaArtsFest. It will be held on Sunday, June 10th at 3:30 pm in the Skidmore College Dance Theatre. Admission is by an ARTSPASS, Festival Pass or single event ticket which is $10. Conceived and performed by Adam McKinney, and directed by Daniel Banks from DNAWORKS, HaMapah (Hebrew for ‘Map’) is a multimedia dance journey that traces the intersections of dancer Adam McKinney's African American, Native American and Jewish heritages. HaMapah weaves contemporary dance with archival material, personal interviews, Yiddish and American songs and video set to traditional, contemporary and classical music. In this vibrant piece, McKinney explores issues of identity, ancestry and family. The artists will lead a community dialogue immediately following the program. DNAWORKS is an arts and service organization dedicated to furthering dialogue, focusing on issues of identity, culture, class and heritage.
