Move beyond sandpaper! Learn how to carve a spoon using just a saw, hatchet and two knives. This two-day carving class will cover functional spoon design, sharpening skills, safe axe technique and knife grips. A special emphasis will be placed on achieving a smooth faceted knife finish without the use of sandpaper. Understanding how to work with the grain of a piece of wood will allow you to create strong, elegant spoons that will improve with age and use. 

NOTE:  Students are required to wear closed toe shoes. Students may also bring any spoon carving materials they may have.
