On Tuesday September 20 at 6:30 The Rochmon Record Club will converge for a screening of the classic 1970 concert movie, “Joe Cocker Mad Dogs & Englishmen Dogs and Englishmen” at the Universal Preservation Hall. Widely regarded as one of the greatest live bands in the history of Rock & Roll, Mad Dogs & Englishmen is hard to deny. Often chaotic but also riveting in its precision, Mad Dogs & Englishmen stands out as one of the best live albums ever recorded. The 48 date American tour was one of the very few Rock & Roll Review shows to have both critical and commercial success. The movie and album were taken from two performances at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East in New York City. Anchored by some of the best studio and live musicians at the time Joe Cocker and the band lead by Leon Russell grabs your ears and eyes. The event begins at 7pm with talk by Chuck Vosganian aka “Rochmon”. Chuck will take you through a presentation meant to inform and deepen your understanding of the history of the individual performers, the songs and the stories that made this an iconic tour and live album. The movie screening begins at 8pm with high quality stereo sound. The movie is approximately 2 hours long. Light refreshments will be available. This event is free, donations are encouraged. All donations go to the restoration fund of the Universal Preservation Hall. For questions please call or text 518-792-2711 and like our Facebook page @rochmonrecordclub.
