This class will teach students the basics of film photography and will introduce students to film cameras and formats, selecting and loading film into a camera, correct metering and exposure for film, developing film in the darkroom and without a darkroom, scanning film negatives, making prints with scanned film negatives with a computer and inkjet printer, as well as making prints with an enlarger in the darkroom. The instructor will supply most of the materials you will need which includes medium and large format film; darkroom chemicals for developing and printing, inkjet paper and photosensitive darkroom paper for printing images, nitrile gloves and negative holding sleeves. Students need to bring a film camera (medium or large format preferred; 35 mm acceptable with permission of the instructor). A loaner film camera may be available from the instructor with prior request.
NOTE: This class will take place at the instructor's studio located in Saratoga Springs. The address will be provided at the time of registration. Closed shoes, old clothes and long apron recommended.
