This workshop is for beginners, but is well suited for those with some experience who wish to improve their skills or get help with a project. All the basics of traditional coal-forge blacksmithing will be covered: lighting and managing a forge fire, basic operations (including forge welding), and metallurgy and its application to tool making. Suggested projects include a gate hook, a trivet, and a chisel, but participants are encouraged to pursue their interest in their own projects.
NOTE: Hard shoes and long pants are required for student’s safety.
