New Children Book by Ruth Ann Smalley:
Green Conscience Home & Garden will be hosting the signing of Ruth Ann Smalley’s new children book "Sheila Says We’re Weird," which came out last June. This new book tells the charming story of a young girl, Sheila, who lives next door to the narrator and his family. Sheila is both perplexed and delighted by their home-cooked food, their composting, their clothes hanging on a line to dry, and many other 'weird' aspects of their green family life. The book offers simple alternative practices while providing a vision of more healthy and hopeful lifestyle. Originally from Iowa, Smalley moved to the Capital Region in 1992 to become a professor of English literature at the College of St Rose. Her interest in sustainability led to her recent book, which mission is to educate children about our relationship to the natural world. She is currently working on several other illustrated storybooks, as well as a middle-grades novel. Green Conscience is very happy to open its door to such an event, and hopes that families and children will be inspired to learn and discuss what they together can do to support our planet.
