Sergius is best known as the editor of most of the critical editions of song that singers use daily\, but was also a renowned teacher of voice\, accompaniment\, and repertoire at Julliard and an extremely gifted pianist. It was in this capacity\, as a pianist\, that Kagen came to play in the studio of Marcella Sembrich and spend subsequent summers at the summer retreat on Lake George.
