DESCRIPTION:SPAC’s Popular “Rock   line-height: 10.5pt\;">SARATOGA SPRINGS\, NY –SPAC’s popular “Rock & Run” 10K and 5K fundraiser is slated for Sunday\, May 18 at the Saratoga Spa State Park. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a 1K Kids’ Run\, followed by the 5K and 10K at 9:30 a.m. Over 20 top Capital Region bands will perform along certified running routes and at the free\, post-race party on SPAC’s lawn. Online registration is available at spac.org. All proceeds will benefit SPAC’s Vivienne Anderson program which hosts underserved children at classical performances.    “Our ‘Rock & Run’ is the perfect\, high-energy kick off to our season. With last year’s addition of a new 10K course and twice the number of bands\, the enthusiasm of local runners\, families and residents from around the Capital Region made this unique event an even greater success\,” said Marcia J. White\, SPAC’s President & Executive Director. “My thanks go out to the members of SPAC’s Action Council for their hard work on behalf of the “Rock & Run\,’ which raises much needed funds for SPAC’s programming and education programs.”         The headlining band for the post-race festivities will once again be The Acoustic Brotherhood\, led by Soul Session’s Garland Nelson and Audiostar front man\, Jay Yager\, two of the Capital Region’s leading musicians.       Other acclaimed regional bands and artists participating in the event include:    Bridgette Guerrette --18 year old singer/songwriter\, Guerrette plays piano and guitar\, recording her first six song EP at the young age of 15 with Grammy award winning producer Robert Cutarella. Among her accolades include Best Female Alternative Artist for the 2013 Indie Music Channel Awards\, and Top Ten New York Finalist for the teen vocal competition Sound Off\, 2012.   Anthony Fallacaro -- Fusing rock\, blues\, folk and pop\, his debut album\, “Hello My Name Is Anthony (EP)” is receiving wide acclaim for the authenticity of its tracks and strong musicianship.    Low ‘n Lonesome – Blending their talents to produce old time Blues & Ragtime\, they perform old school jazz\, rock\, folk\, and country music\, receiving praise for their recordings from experts such as Stefan Grossman.      New bands joining the race this year include Beaked Whale\, Bryan Thomas\, Cosby Gibson & Tom Staudle\, Danny Whitecotton\, Emma Torncello\, Jocelyn Arndt\, Two Guys.   Back by popular demand will be The Lazy Suns\, CRUSH\, Hard Soul\, Immune Friction\, Zan Strumfeld\, Jim Morris\, Kemp Avenue\, Tamerlane\, and Tracy Corry.    Other features of the Rock & Run include performance/moisture-wicking shirts for the first 1\,200 pre-registered 5K and 10K runners\, tickets to SPAC’s Wine & Food and Fall Ferrari Festival for the top male/female finishers\, tickets to SPAC classical performances for the top male and female finishers in each age category\, finisher awards for all children participating in the Kids’ Race\, and a free\, post race party with live music\, refreshments and samples courtesy of Healthy Living Market & Café\, and children’s activities.    Early registration cost (postmarked by 5/13) is $35 per person for the 10K\; $27 per person for the 5K and $5 for the Kids’ Race.  The general public may enjoy viewing the race or attending the post-race party free of charge.    About SPAC’s Vivienne Anderson Program  Proceeds from Rock & Run benefit SPAC’s Vivienne Anderson Children’s Program\, a special program which hosts underserved area youth at select matinee performances of the NYCB. The children visit the National Museum of Dance\, meet with dancers from the company\, and learn about a dancer’s life. They view the performance after having been introduced to the story line\, choreographer\, and composer. It is the goal of the program that experiencing the arts in such a meaningful way\, often for their first time\, will help these children foster a lifelong love of the arts.
