DESCRIPTION:16th Annual celebration of Solomon Northup\, Twelve Years a Slave \nTo celebrate the contribution of African-Americans\, diversity of cultures and the story of Solomon Northup\, based on his autobiography\, Twelve Years a Slave.  This event is held annually the third Saturday in July at Skidmore College: To celebrate as we bring to light all the people involved in the struggle for freedom in the Americas and encourage a better understanding of freedom and justice through the eyes of the African-American experience past and present\; and encourage youth participation in the struggle for freedom throughout the world.   Descendants attend each year.
