DESCRIPTION:About the Instructor: Mary Flores\, M.A. ED\n\nFlores is a highly dedicated\, resourceful and innovative retired educator. She has taught in the NYC department of Education school system for 30 years. While teaching\, she incorporated book arts into instructon\, as a way to promote literacy and mathematics. Her teaching philosophy focuses on a warm\, safe space to learn and be creative. She has specialized in elementary education\, is certified in bilingual special education and has 10 years experience as a literary coach for elementary school teachers\, grades K - 5. She is published in Stuff that Works! A Technology Curriculum for the Elementary Grades and has contributed to the exhibition of handcrafted books highlighting the accomplishments of African American Inventors.\n\n\n\n      This class is an introduction to constructing hand made books. In three\, two hour workshops\, your child will be guided as they discover a creative outlet\, build confidence and have fun. They will learn the basics of folding techniques\, find ways to use foldables to enrich bookmaking experience and take home three unique handmade books.\n\n\n\nClass limit: 10 students\n\nAges 8 - 9 September 25th\, 26th and 27th
