DESCRIPTION:Raising awareness of MesotheliomaThis is the 3rd annual Kayaking 4 Meso. We are kayaking from Schuylerville to Stillwater to Mechanicville to raise awareness of Mesothelioma. My daughter has been battling this disease for close to eleven years now. There is no known cure\, but by raising awareness\, & donations for research\, there is hope. Monies raised will be donated to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. We are planning 2 launch sites and times. One in Schuylerville and one in Stillwater. First launch\, will be from Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville at 8:00AM. This is a 16 mile paddle. Second launch\, will be from Admiral's Marina in Stillwater at approximately 12:00PM. This is a 3 mile paddle. We will all meet in Stillwater and paddle through Lock 4 and 3 together to the Mechanicville Boat Dock. Mechanicville Boat Dock\, festivities from 1:00 - 4:00. Festivities are still in the planning stages. We're asking that everyone registers in advance by August 31st. Please visit our website Kayaking4Meso.org and print off a registration form. Registration is $25.00 and all who registers in advance will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event. Of course we want everyone to wear their t-shirt for the event\, however we will not turn anyone away. This is a one way paddle. Last year over 130 kayakers made it to the water. We're shooting for 200 this year and hoping to get a lot of media attention. There is also a 2nd Kayaking 4 Meso event being planned in New Jersey for the same day. This was quite a memorable event last year and we're hoping to make it bigger and better this year. Spread the word and tell your friends. See you all on the water.
